Please keep in mind that the club requires that each participant wear a properly fastened PFD. The Coast Guard also requires that every paddler must have a whistle. Always bring plenty of food and water for yourself. Non-members may participate in up to two (2) day paddle trips to see if they like club activities before they decide to join as a member. Our trips are rated on a 1 - 5 trip rating with 1 being the easiest and 5 being the most intense. Expect every paddle to have its dangers and decide if it is right for you and your skill level. Most of all, plan to come and have a great time!
Minimum safety equipment for Class A Recreational Vessels: Less than 16', kayaks and canoes.

Safety - Guidelines for Paddlers
- Know your skill levels.
- Check website for trip level description and talk to Trip Leader.
- Be on time. At least 30 minutes before launch time.
- Have a full tank of gas if you are traveling long distance.
- Always RSVP the Trip Leader by the required date if you are planning on paddling. Plan ahead.
- If you signed up for the trip and you must cancel, CALL the Trip Leader.
- Ask the Trip Leader what the plan and duration of the trip is.
- PFD ( Personal Floatation devices) are required by Law. Make sure it fits you. PFDs must be on you, properly fastened. Whistle is required too.
- Make sure to bring the right equipment for the trip. See Equipment List and talk to Trip Leader for additional equipment, if required.
- Stay between the sweep boat and the lead boat.
- Be aware of new members and guests and be helpful. Assist in carrying and loading boats.
- Don't hesitate to ask for assistance… let others help you.
- Follow the instructions of Trip Leader. Final authority on making decisions on the Trip is with Trip Leader.
- Complete the Emergency Information Form, and store it in a dry bag in the hatch.
- Paddlers are responsible for themselves and their gear.
